It is built into some of the projects that they do, and in some cases, they just do things out of the kindness of their own heart. Nobody knows this better than a member of Eagle Scout troop 323 in Freeland, Joseph Wittke.

“WOW! WOW! WOW!! Joseph Wittke from troop 323 Freeland built 25 brand new dog beds for his Eagle Scout project!! We are so excited to give the doggies an upgrade!! Many, many hours were spent to perfect the construction and in the end the final outcome was amazing! Thank you sooo much Joe for all your hard work! Good luck your senior year and next year at Michigan Tech! They will be lucky to have you.”
According to local news station WNEM, the director of that rescue, Shawna Guiett, said: “Well, I think we’re gonna have some happy dogs over here.”
She went on to say that they were similar to beds that you can purchase but they are beautiful. She spoke about the effort that he put into making the PVC beds including sanding the edges so that they would be safe for the dogs.
There is a lot of work at the rescue, including feeding and caring for the specific needs of the animals.
Guiett said that it can be a struggle at times, so they appreciate the extra help. That help may come in many forms, including donations of cat food or various items to help the animals.
