Sometimes, it’s hard to see the big picture when we’re so focused on what’s in front of us. That’s not just true for humans, but for dogs as well!

One prime example of this is a pup named Schmolie.

The sweet dog lives with her owner in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and while she’s a bright dog, she has her moments.

In a video captured by the dog’s owner, you can see Schmolie standing in front of a fence, barking to be let out. The only thing? The gate opens up right next to her!

Schmolie was so focused on the fence in front of her that she didn’t even notice the open space next to her where she could walk around the gate. It wasn’t her brightest moment, but it happens to the best of us.

The dog’s owner was graciously calling her, trying to get Schmolie to realize that she wasn’t trapped behind a gate at all, but the dog didn’t understand.

Schmolie’s owner shared with ViralHog: “My Dog, Schmolie, thought she was stuck behind an open gate yesterday afternoon and I thought it was hilarious. I showed her after the video that all she had to do was walk around the open gate LOL.”

It’s a good reminder that when we’re facing a challenge, it can pay off to take a step back and look at the problem from different directions. You may just find a solution is easier than you think!
