A German Sheperd named Tinsley is being credited with saving the lives of her owner and friend after they were involved in a severe car accident in Vermont.
According to a release from the Vermont State Police Department, Tinsley’s owner, 31-year-old Cameron Laundry, was driving intoxicated when he crashed into a guardrail and flipped his truck, totaling the vehicle and ejecting the passengers.
Miraculously, Tinsel survived and began to run down the road, seemingly looking for help!
As shared in a Facebook post by the New Hampshire State Police, officers responded to a report of a loose canine. When they arrived at the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge on Interstate 89, they found the German Sheperd and it seemed she was trying to get their attention.
In an interview with Fox 13, Lt. Daniel Baldassarre said, “The dog was trying to show them something. [She] kept trying to get away from them but didn’t run away totally. It was kind of, ‘Follow me. Follow me.’”
The officers did follow the dog and were shocked to discover the damaged guardrail and totaled car! Tinsel immediately ran down to lay with her owner who’d been ejected from the vehicle and was laying in the snow.
Both Laundry and his passenger were near the vehicle and suffering bad injuries, but thanks to Tinsel, they were able to get the help they needed.
Sadly, the passenger had a pitbull in the vehicle who was found deceased the following day. Laundry recovered from the incident and was able to return home, but the passenger remains in the hospital with severe injuries.
Laundry is grateful to his dog for potentially saving his life and plans to feed her a great meal to celebrate!
