Dogs know just what to do to get our attention and ultimately get what they want. Some are more theatrical than others and will demand attention by faking a limp or “playing dead”.
One dog named Chrissy is so dramatic that her owners posted a sign to inform others not to fall for her tricks.
Reddit user u/micindra posted a photo of the dog sign posted in front of Chrissy’s house in the forum “What’s Wrong With Your Dog?”, and it is going viral. The caption read, “Found in the wild, couldn’t resist posting.”
The image shows Chrissy lying in the grass with a homemade sign explaining to people passing by that the little dog is not lost. The sign states, “If you see a little dog near this sign… please don’t worry, she is not lost, she lives here. Her name is Chrissy and she is sulking. She is very friendly and loves fuss but she refuses to come inside unless we give her one of her treats. We are out of treats.”
It goes on to say, “If you witness her faking her own death by laying in the road and pretending she has been run over, walk on by, she is just looking for sympathy as she has had no treats. Thanks.”
Other dog owners could relate and shared what their beloved dogs do when they want something.
“I have a very tiny dog. When he’s upset he climbs up one of his tiny staircases, to the couch or bed, and threatens to jump off the edge. We have to go running to save him,” wrote one Redditor.
Another commented, “My Jack Russell will fake a limp, usually if he’s done something bad and doesn’t want to get in trouble. Sometimes he forgets which leg is supposed to be injured and switches to the other one. His injury is miraculously healed if we go throw sticks in the back yard.”
One said, “I’m glad I can pick up my dog because she’s 100% petty enough to do this.”
A few people wondered why they just don’t get more treats, but then realized that maybe Chrissy is on a diet – one she is not happy about. While it is not said what type of dog she is, people have guessed she is a pug or French bulldog.
Several Redditors were concerned that Chrissy was not on a leash and urged the owner to keep her in a fenced area or on a leash. While the sign mentioned her in the road, worried dog owners hope that she really isn’t wandering into the road on her own.
