Some dogs love to stay at home and you can barely get them to go outside. Other dogs, however, will take any advantage to run and they can be difficult to catch once they are out and about.
Of course, we want to care for our dogs in the best way possible and that is why we will often build a fence to keep them from getting in harm’s way.
Perhaps that is how Julia Morley felt after adopting Lu-Seal in 2016.
Her little Chihuahua was a little chunky when she first brought her home. In fact, she was about twice the size of a healthy Chihuahua so Julia got busy helping her to lose some weight.
After putting Lu-Seal on a healthy diet and taking her for plenty of walks, the pounds started coming off. She was a happy little dog and now she was a lot healthier, but being trim came with its challenges.
Perhaps one of the more interesting challenges was the fact that Lu-Seal could now squeeze between the bars of the fence. It was no longer there to protect her, she could get outside without even trying.
It seems as if Lu-Seal is anxious to get through the fence because one of the neighbors has given her some treats. Suddenly, Julia was looking at the fence from a different viewpoint and she knew she had to do something to help protect her dog.
Rather than buying a new fence, she decided to use a wooden spoon to fix the problem. After attaching the wooden spoon to the dog’s back, she could no longer fit through the holes easily.
This worked well, but eventually, her little determined dog was able to fit through the fence anyway. That is where they decided to go with puppy guards, which would make the fence safe for even a small dog such as Lu-Seal.
Sadly, Lu-Seal passed away last may, but you can keep up with her family on Instagram, @lusealmanor.
