Jason Williams shared with the Associated Press that they had actually gotten trapped inside their shelter after the house was destroyed. Jason shared that they were in there about fifteen or twenty minutes underneath the rubble until their neighbor came to rescue them.

While it might have seemed like Smokey had not survived the storm, thankfully, that turned out to not be the case.

The very lucky pooch, along with the family’s cat, tortoise, and guinea pig, were all found alive, trapped under some debris of their former home.

Smokey and his family are thankful to be alive and unharmed as footage was captured of Jason and several others pulling Smokey out of the rubble.

Jason said, “We a little bruised and scraped up, but other than that, God had his mighty hand on us.”
