There is a reason that dogs have been called “man’s best friend” since as far back as any of us can remember.
They have proved themselves to be loving, loyal companions who want to spend all their time with their favorite humans. But as much as our dogs love spending time with us, the feeling is definitely mutual.
I remember growing up having a dog in the family. She was the most gentle animal ever – and she was definitely my best friend as a kid. I’m sure many dog owners feel that way towards their beloved dogs. They’re such silly sweethearts who provide us with endless laughs and cuddles. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
But sometimes their devotion to us can seem a little clingy or smothering – particularly when we’ve got stuff to get done! It can be a little hard to get work done around the house when you’ve got a furry shadow constantly by your side demanding love and affection.
With so many of us still working from home, I’m sure there are more than a few dog owners who can relate to that sentiment. I’ve heard some funny stories from my friends with dogs about the lengths their clever pooches will go to in order to try and get their attention while working from home.
Dogs might be man’s loyal best friend for life, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have it in them to be little masterminds of manipulation either. Take the adorable dog in the video below, for example. It appears that he has found a way to get his owner to pay attention to him.
It appears that this dog has figured out the old saying, “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em!” And that is precisely what he does when he walks into the room and notices that his owner is hard at work doing something on his computer.
In the video, the dog looks around the room for a second as though he is assessing the situation. When it becomes clear to him that he’s not going to get any form of acknowledgment from his buddy, he takes to plan B.
The very smart pup disappears from the frame for a moment before you see the chair on the other side of the small office start to move. Then, the dog peeks his head out from under the desk. He’d been the one moving it!
His owner then looks back to the commotion and sees his dog moving the chair over towards his desk. And once he’s got the chair aligned with his buddy’s desk, the smart dog hops up.
It’s so cute to see his tail immediately start to wag as though he’s so proud of himself!
