A loving dog who was surrendered to a Texas animal shelter for being “too affectionate” is now thriving in a loving forever home.
Back in 2015, Jubilee was brought to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter in Conroe, Texas. Her owner didn’t want her anymore, and their reason was that “she always wants to be by my side.”
Staff were floored, but they knew they’d be able to find this sweet dog a home that would appreciate her – and that’s exactly what they did.
After word got out about the dog and the reason for her homelessness, applications started pouring into the shelter. Among them, was a woman named Samantha Fewox. The shelter ended up choosing her application and Fewox, in turn, chose Jubilee.

Speaking with The Huffington Post, Fewox said, “It touched me. She loved so much. I knew I was supposed to have her.” Fewox knew that Jubilee had quite a few fans from her story spreading around the world, so she started a Facebook page to share details about the dog’s new life.

Jubilee’s new family included Samantha, her teenage son, and their other dog, Abby. She seemed to be quite comfortable with her new family and it wasn’t long before she was making herself at home.
I love my new home, especially my new couch! I’m just not that sure about my new sister.

Abby: Mom, do I have to put up with this much longer??? Maybe if I close my eyes it will all go away. Sigh…Jubilee: What??????

According to The Huffington Post, the rescue coordinator for the shelter where Jubilee was abandoned, Minda Emas Harris, wanted to emphasize that she was glad the dog was surrendered. Shelters exist to take in dogs who have nowhere to go, and she was thankful that they were able to find a home for Jubilee that would appreciate her and work well with her.
Harris also noted that the dog’s former owner had a few other complaints, other than her affection, citing that the pup would chew things like the couch and baseboards. It’s common behavior for puppies (or dogs who aren’t getting their needs met), but many people who get animals aren’t fully prepared for the responsibility that it entails.
