Have you ever gone hunting for shark teeth at the beach? With a little bit of patience and some know-how, you can usually find some of those teeth quite quickly. They may be tiny, but it’s something that gives us a good feeling when we find them.
Then again, according to the owner of Black Gold Fossil Charters, Michael Nastasio, there are bigger fish to fry in the ocean.
He managed to pull out a 6-inch long shark tooth while he was out at sea in Venice, Florida.
In fact, when he found the tooth, he had to cut the dive short because he was losing his breath.
Nastasio is no stranger to diving, as he has been doing so for about a decade. Over that time, he has been hunting for fossils and has even found some as interesting as sections of mammoth tusks or their teeth, still in the jawbone!

He also found plenty of shark teeth, bison teeth, camel teeth, horse teeth, and even sloth teeth.
ABC had an interview with Nastasio about the find, and he said: “When I saw the tooth exposed like it was it literally took my breath away. I was so excited.”
Speaking of excitement, there are plenty of things to discover on the floor of the ocean. For example, a Nazi ship that sunk was found in October. It is thought that it may contain hundreds of millions of dollars worth of missing panels from an Amber room.
The room dates back to the 1700s when it was created for King Frederick I of Prussia. When the Nazis looted the area in the second world war, the treasures disappeared. Experts are hoping that the sunken ship contains those treasures.
According to RadioFreeEurope, the diver said:
“The wreck rests several dozen kilometres north of Ustka at a depth of 88 meters. It is practically intact. In its holds, we discovered military vehicles, porcelain and many crates with so far unknown contents.
This discovery may provide ground-breaking information on the disappearance of the legendary Amber Room, because it was in Königsberg that it was last seen.
From there, the steamer Karlsruhe set out on its last voyage with a large cargo.”
It will be interesting to see what else the ocean has to reveal as the years go by.
