Kids and dogs can be similar in that they both tend to pick one “special” toy that’s somehow better than the other toys.
As a young child, I had a stuffed animal named Slushie that I took with me everywhere. 27 years later and I still have that stuffed dog in fairly decent condition, albeit well-loved. My dog also has a favorite toy he’s had since puppyhood, a stuffed unicorn that no other stuffie could replace.
A silly dachshund named Bruno also has a favorite toy that he loves above all his other toys, but he’s taken things to the next level with his toy.
Bruno the Dachshund lives with his owner, Lyndsay, in Britain. Ever since he was a young pup, he’s been attached to one specific ball that’s grown quite old and stinky over the years.
In an interview with The Dodo, Lyndsay explained, “He’s obsessed. I don’t know if Bruno could ever let go of his stinky ball.”
She said the ball obsession all started seven years ago when she bought Bruno a little, white snowball toy. “Little did I know, it’s the beginning of a love story,” she told The Dodo.
Bruno takes the ball with him everywhere and plays with it every chance he gets. He’s hopelessly committed to that old, stinky ball.
Lyndsay revealed that he does have other toys that he likes and plays with on occasion, but nothing compares to the old ball.
Despite being offered balls similar to Bruno’s stinky ball, the pup refuses to pick a new favorite toy. It’s all ok though because the old, stinky ball continues to hold up, despite years of love.
