We all despise porch piracy. Unfortunately, it seems to be a rather frequent occurrence in our society. We’ve seen videos of people trying to come up with all kinds of traps and diversions to keep people from stealing delivered items off their porch.
There have also been plenty of people who’ve uploaded videos of these brazen porch pirates thanks to their home surveillance systems – one of those often being doorbells with video.
For one family, they were about to make a very interesting discovery about a recent theft. As it turns out, one homeowner was experiencing a bizarre and upsetting string of thefts of packages. And that is when a home investigation was launched after the homeowner and her husband decided to review security footage from their doorbell’s video in order to see what was going on.
What they found was truly entertaining.
As it turns out, their porch pirate turned out to be a large white dog who was the one behind the packages’ mysterious disappearance. They watched while the pooch scooped up the package in its mouth and, without hesitation, ran off into the night with it. Quite brazen!

The homeowner explained, “We were on a ‘staycation’ and my husband woke me up in the middle of the night saying ‘you won’t believe who is on the front porch’! It was a porch pirate. I was shocked. My box, which had been delivered after I left for the trip, was promptly stolen and caught on camera. The thief was a massive white dog.”
But it wasn’t lost, the package was returned the following day. As for why the dog felt inclined to steal the box? We’ll never know.
The box didn’t have anything edible or remotely enticing as it was full of makeup and skincare products – all toxic-free items of course.
The homeowner added, “I did find the box the next day in a grassy area near our house, holes bitten into it but my lip gloss and moisturizer still intact.”
