If you’re a country music fan or an animal advocate you’ve likely heard of Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation. She’s frequently in the news for her generous efforts to help animals in need, and now she’s teamed up with our non-profit partner, Greater Good Charities, via their GOODS program to provide 2 million meals for pets of families experiencing economic hardship. For anyone unfamiliar with MuttNation, it was founded by Lambert and her mother Bev back in 2009 with the aim of promoting and facilitating the adoption of shelter pets, encouraging spaying and neutering, and educating the public.
MuttNation to the Rescue
Lambert regularly shares her good fortune with rescues and shelters across the nation. For instance, she’s donated much-needed supplies to animal shelters in Tennessee, created her Love Harder campaign to shine a light on harder-to-adopt pets, and chose one shelter from each of the 50 states to bestow a $5,000 grant. This particular GOODS donation is just one of several on-the-ground efforts Greater Good Charities has implemented throughout September 2022 to celebrate the global nonprofit’s 15-year anniversary to amplify good across the planet.
For the Love of Animals
“During times of crisis, it’s important to keep families and their pets together,” Lambert shared. “We are proud to partner with Greater Good Charities and hope our GOODS Program donation will help families and their pets stay united in their homes during these challenging times.” To support her animal advocacy ambitions, Lambert has her own pet product line available exclusively at Tractor Supply Co. with proceeds benefitting MuttNation, a 501c(3) nonprofit which has raised more than $6 million since its inception. The line includes toys, supplies, and MuttNation’s On the Farm pet foods and treats for both canines and cats.
Rescue Pets & Forever Homes
Miranda’s menagerie, as her own passel of pets might be termed, includes three dogs and a rescued kitten spied on the side of the road. Traveling along a two-lane highway in Texas with husband Brendan McLoughlin, he slowed to make an unexpected U-turn and started backtracking. Confused at first, it soon became clear that her eagle-eyed hubby was on to something: a tiny orange and white stray. Estimated to be between 4-5 weeks old at the time, the happy couple decided to keep him. The adorable blue-eyed rescue was eventually named Tequila and traveled nine long hours back to Nashville with them.
Greater Good Charities
A global nonprofit, since its start Greater Good has provided more than $475 million in impact — including cash grants, in-kind supplies, and programmatic support — to charitable partners in 121 countries since 2007.
