When most people think of sweet and cuddly pets to own, they picture cats and dogs. Some people also branch into small rodents or bunnies, but few people think of birds. After all, they spend most of the time in cages, not cuddling or hanging out – right?
As any true bird owner will tell you, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Birds, like cockatiels, require a lot of time, attention, space, and love. They might love being cuddled and doing stuff with their favorite people. They definitely form deep bonds with their caretakers!
Someone who knows that all too well is a woman from Portland, Oregon named Bella.
Bella welcomed Clementine the cockatiel into her life and they instantly became inseparable. Bella took Clementine with her on walks and hikes and the bird even participated in her regular yoga sessions!
Because Bella works full-time, she decided it’d be a good idea to get Clementine a friend, so she welcomed home a rescue cockatiel named Tangerine.
Unfortunately, Tangerine was “angry and angsty” but he quickly formed a bond with Clementine.
In an interview with The Dodo, Bella said that Tangerine was slow to trust her, but he loved Clementine.
Because Clementine has such a strong bond with Bella, Tangerine slowly realized that Bella was a safe person who could be trusted. Clementine really helped Tangerine to come out of his shell and form a special bond with her.
