Texas Is Top State For Shelter Pet Deaths, Two Years Running

Facing an overwhelming shelter pet population, and in many cases turning to euthanasia as a solution, Texas is the top U.S. state for animal shelter deaths for the second year in a row. A report from the animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society shows that Texas ranked second for shelter deaths in 2019 but reclaimed the top spot in 2020 and 2021.
