Austin Pets Alive! Lifesaving Takes Flight

Even with some remaining plumbing repairs, today APA!’s Town Lake shelter is back up and running at full capacity with power restored, running water, and our staff and volunteers back in action. Bobcat Frozen To Tracks Freed Shortly Before Speeding Train Passes By
For Coby Reid, it was a typical day on the job. As a train conductor in Trail, British Columbia, he is responsible for ensuring that travel and commerce on the rails flows smoothly. Most mornings, he and his coworkers can be found walking the tracks and making sure that there are no obstacles or emergencies in preparation for that day’s transit. That Thursday morning, as he and his crew inspected a remote strip of track near the Columbia River, they kept an eye out for any obstructions caused by the continuing snowfall and overnight...

Scammers Use This Craigslist Loophole To Sell Sick Pets, Or Worse
Sites like Craigslist may be affordable and easy to use, but every purchase comes with a caveat. Nowhere is this fact more worrisome than in the “free,” “wanted,” and “farm & garden” categories, where animals are bought and sold. The Craigslist terms of use prohibit the sale of animals, but allows animals to be traded for a “rehoming fee.” This loophole is exploited heavily, and rarely in the animals’ best interests. According to Dogster, buyers and sellers on Craigslist rarely conduct...

‘Miracle’ Puppy Born With Two Tails And Six Legs
A puppy was born with six legs and two tails to a family in the United States. It’s the first documented case of a dog with these qualities being born alive. Now, one week later, she’s showing signs of a promising future. The dog named “Miricle” is an aussie-collie mix. In addition to having two sets of back legs and two tails, the vet further discovered that the little pup has a few double organs, a double spine, and a double rear. Rest assured, none of the conditions they found were life-threatening. While many...
