Kevin Bacon And Kyra Sedgwick Have A Soft Spot For Pitbulls And Rescue Dogs
How did you get through the lockdowns and uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic’s early days? We all found our own ways of adapting, our own unique sources of joy that we cherished in isolation — for many, this comfort came from the rediscovery of an old hobby, trying out new recipes, or reconnecting over social media with old friends. Speaking of friends, it wasn’t just social media and Zoom calls that kept many company. Canine companions, whether they were already part of the family or a newfound “pandemic...

I heard one of them say let...
We Named Him ‘Tashi’, Meaning ‘Prosperity and Spiritual Wealth’
This story was originally shared on The Animal Rescue Site. Submit your own rescue story here. Your story just might be the next to be featured on our blog! It was late autumn and I was on a lunch break. I wanted something sweet and decided to go to a bakery I hadn’t visited in years. Behind it, in a depression with a tree and a bit of grass, a small kitten was heartbreakingly crying. There was so much misery in that sound. Apparently someone threw a litter there – a few died, one got rescued a few days ago, this one remained....
Dad Spends A Spa Day With His Cat In Viral Video
It doesn’t matter who we are, we all have stress in our lives. We may be able to hide the stress or perhaps deal with it from day to day, but sometimes, we just need to find a way to vent and get away from it all. For many people, this involves taking a special spa today. There is something wonderful about being pampered for an entire day. We can have everything worked on, from getting a facial to having our nails done or perhaps even getting a relaxing massage. It seems as if one man decided that a spa day was in order for himself, but...
Orphaned Kitten Found With A Perfect Two-Toned Face
Although we live in a world of uncertainty, there are some things that we can be absolutely sure of. One of those is the fact that kittens are adorable, and that is true across the board. Of course, there are some kittens that take being adorable to the next level, and that is the case with one orphaned kitten named Apricot. This little kitten was found with Pretzel, her sister, inside of a wall. The family had just moved into a new home and they found the kittens hiding when they were doing some work. I knew my 14-year-old kitty, Tabitha, was ill. Being the last of her family, she was alone while I was at work. So I visited my vets’ adoption clinic “just to look” for a mature, laid back cat to keep her company. The vet techs said they were so glad I’d come in, I just had to see their newest stray. When I learned he was about 6-months-old, I almost...
California Black Bear Cubs Are Less Afraid Of Humans Due To Puzzling Brain Illness
A neurological disease in California black bear cubs is causing them to act more “dog-like” and be less afraid of humans. The bears appear lethargic with a slight head title and are not afraid to approach people. Most are extremely underweight and alone. California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has encountered four young bears in the past year suffering from the mysterious brain illness. This is the most cases the state has seen since it first appeared in 2014. Photo: Pixabay In 2014, a young black bear was found...
Dog Finds His Forever Home After 667 Days At The Shelter
When most people go to an animal shelter, they are looking for a young dog, perhaps even a puppy that they can make part of their family and their lives. Unfortunately, this means that some of the more “difficult” dogs may get overlooked and they could spend a long time in the shelter before finding a forever home. That is what happened with Melvin, a dog who spent 667 days in Los Angeles at the shelter run by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He had a rough life, including needing a lot of medical care due to...
FIV-Positive Cat Finds Forever Home After Spending 6 Years In Shelter
The common saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” applies to this heartwarming story about a shelter cat who was finally given a second chance based on his personality and not his illness. Tyson arrived at The Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, a no-kill animal shelter in Pennsylvania, as a stray cat six years ago. Photo: Facebook/Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Inc. He was just two years old at the time and sweet as could be. As is protocol at the shelter, he was examined and tested for infectious diseases. He tested...
Pit Bull ‘Asks’ Shelter Employee To Help Her Four Freezing Puppies
Shelter staff from the Foothills Animal Shelter in Lakewood, Colorado discovered a loving pit bull who appeared to need help. The pit bull, who they named Betty, was wandering outside in the cold and seemed to be hungry and worried. The staff noted that Betty had recently given birth, but she didn’t have any puppies with her. The employees were hopeful that the mama dog did have her puppies safe somewhere, but they knew they needed to act quickly to get the mama dog back to her puppies.
