Abandoned German Shepherd Waits For Her Owners To Come Back

A Safefurr Place Animal Rescue was notified of a dog who’d been abandoned. The poor dog had been left behind and remained on the streets, waiting for her owners to come back – a day that would never come. Danny with the animal rescue went to Oildale, California in an attempt to rescue the abandoned German Shepherd, who they named Shelly, but it wasn’t going to be easy. While Shelly was staying in the general area she’d been abandoned, she was hesitant to let anyone come near her. Danny found her lying in the shade of a...

Clock Is Ticking As Rescuers Race To Save Orphaned Kittens

There’s a reason Adopt-a-Cat Month is celebrated in June. Summer marks the beginning of kitten season, leaving U.S. shelters overflowing with homeless kittens and cats desperate for care. But kitten season doesn’t just end in July, when Adopt-a-Cat Month is over. Take The Pet Shelter Pledge For National Dog House Repair Month

It is a sad reality that only 1 out of every 10 dogs born will ever find a permanent home. In most cases, their owners will give them up, or they will be found homeless on the street. Tragically, less than 2% of those cats and only 15 to 20% of dogs are returned to their owners, DoSomething.org reports. According to the ASPCA, approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, about 3.9 million dogs and 3.4 million cats. And at least 2.7 million of those shelter animals will be killed because shelters are...
