Pets Accidentally Started 1,000 House Fires In America Last Year

America loves its pets — an estimated 70% of households (more than 90 million homes) have one or more, according to the American Pet Products Association! While our pets can offer us companionship, protection, and affection, they can also be a handful. Every year, more than 100 billion dollars is spent providing for our furry friends. While most of that is for typical needs such as food, vet care, and toys, every year there are 1,000 Americans whose home catches fire because of a pet. PHOTO: PIXABAY / kolyaeg Here’s how it...

Dog Almost Slaughtered For Meat Enjoys Life With His New Family

It’s a sad reality, but many animals are unnecessarily slaughtered for food. Even in areas with access to other protein-rich foods like beans, soy, and mock meats, animal meat remains a popular choice. In some areas, dogs are still farmed or used for food. It’s not as common as it once was, but in areas like China, South Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam, small populations of people consume dog meat, resulting in dogs being cruelly killed. One dog that was on its way to being slaughtered was an adorable poodle-looking pup named Patou....

Senior Dog Runs Away From Owner After 15 Years Of Abuse

When dogs run away from home, rescuers usually have a goal of ensuring the animal is safe and finding its owner. He was severely neglected, not getting enough exercise or attention, and it was the only life he’d known. When the dog’s health started to deteriorate, his owner removed his chain – likely assuming he would continue to lie there, too sick to move. However, the...

In Gaston County, North Carolina, the Humane Society was called to respond to an alleged dogfighting ring involving several dogs. When they arrived on the scene, they found dogs in horrific conditions, suffering from injuries “typically seen in dogfighting cases.” Photo: Wikimedia Commons As they...
