Shelter Pet Social Fundraising Guide
Jun 01, 2022 Thank you for joining us to save shelter pets this summer! By creating a fundraising page in partnership with Austin Pets Alive!, you will help to save the lives of vulnerable animals. Engaging with your friends, family, and social networks through sharing a Classy and/or Facebook fundraiser is a great way to connect people with a mission you care about, tell them about your shelter pet, why you adopted from, volunteer for, donate to, or support APA!, and why they should help us to save more animal lives. Best of all, it’s...

Parvo Puppy ICU Flooding | Help Needed!
May 24, 2022 One of Austin’s pet lifesaving treasures is at risk after ANOTHER flooding situation with sewage spilling into all three parvovirus treatment wards. This is the same situation that the clinic staff faced this past Saturday when Austin Pets Alive! asked for adopters and fosters to pick up puppies who had already been treated – and tested negative – for parvovirus. Because the Austin community responded and helped pick up 17 puppies on Saturday and 23 puppies on Sunday, there are currently 51 puppies being treated...
Paddle for Puppies is Back!
May 09, 2022 Paddle for Puppies is back on May 15th and better than ever! Paddle for Puppies, an annual event presented by Austin Subaru, provides incredible support for our Parvo Puppy ICU Program at Austin Pets Alive!. Our Parvo Puppy ICU cares for puppies that contract canine parvovirus, a highly contagious and life-threatening virus that increases their risk for euthanasia in certain shelters. In 2021 alone, a record-breaking 963 lives were saved from the Parvo Puppy ICU. That’s 400 more puppies than we saved in 2020 – this...

Letter from Dr. Jefferson: Tornado Help
Mar 22, 2022 I hope this finds you and yours safe after last night’s scary weather event. With multiple tornado touchdowns in Central Texas and morning reports today of damage, we wanted to reach out to let you know how we fared and what we’re doing to support response efforts. Firstly, our animals and facilities were unharmed. Our Town Lake Animal Center (TLAC) shelter, which as you probably know faces challenges, weathered the storm well! With our recent equipment upgrades and overnight staff additions, the teams were able to...
This Is a Call for Innovators and Entrepreneurs to Help Us End Pet Homelessness
Mar 11, 2022 An estimated one million pets will be dying in shelters this year because they haven’t been adopted—or weren’t kept out of the shelter with safety net programs to support people and pets. Meanwhile, in some parts of the country, there are not enough cats and dogs for the people who want to adopt them. See the issue? There is a veterinarian shortage, exacerbated by more people bringing pets into their homes during the pandemic. Vet prices are going up to meet the increased demand. This is leaving more and more...
