Sheba at Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter, Inc. was severely attacked by a dog in the store. The dog was heading to the exit with his owner when it turned and headed towards Sheba’s meet and greet and yanked the dog out of the person’s hands at one of our adoption centers on September 11, 2018. Sheba, our affectionate 4-month-old, was very badly injured by a dog.
Luckily an employee got in the middle of the attack and managed to get Sheba out of the dog’s mouth. Sheba came out of the attack with lacerations that required stitches, a fractured leg, multiple puncture wounds, lost tooth and had a bad infection. He had three procedures and veterinary visits that together cost thousands of dollars.

The dog’s owner was charged criminally and found guilty civilly but never paid our shelter a dime. A few months later, the employee who saved him adopted him, and since then he has been doing terrific in his forever home. Included in this post are Sheba’s picture the day after the attack and a current picture of him.
