Like many students, Francesa Bourdier was caught in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic during her college career.
Rather than letting that stop her, she opted to take online classes when her university switched to virtual learning and she recently graduated!
However, she didn’t graduate alone. She did it right alongside her best friend, a feline named Suki.
Francesa studied at the University of Texas at Austin and Suki joined her for zoom lectures and homework sessions. It only seemed fitting that the cat would get to “walk” for graduation alongside Francesa since he put in the same number of hours and schooling.
According to Fox 7, Francesa said: “I was pretty much at my apartment for most of the time and I had my cat next to me. Whenever I would have my Zoom lecture on, it’s like she almost wanted to listen in on it, and she would always just sit by my laptop.”
She wanted to recognize the dedication her cat showed, so she staged a little graduation celebration for Suki. She shared about Suki graduating on Instagram, showing off adorable pictures of her and Suki side-by-side in their graduation attire.
Francesa captioned the photo:
“Yes, my cat attended every zoom lecture I had so we will BOTH be graduating from THE University of Texas at Austin together.”
While many people rallied behind Suki and his graduation, he’s yet to be recognized as an official graduate at the University of Texas.
Either way, it’s the thought that counts when it comes to our pets. Suki stood by Francesa’s side as she went through class and it’s only fitting that he gets to accompany her as she graduates too.
