I was walking my blind Maltese, Franklin, around the block when we heard a cat meowing. It was a stray, and she followed us around the block, into the garden, and jumped up onto a bench I’d placed Franklin on. I was about to do some gardening, as was our usual routine.
Sweet little Franklin could sense the cat (Fiona, as we’d soon name her), accepted her, and they both settled down for a lovely snuggle while I gardened. They both sensed there was no threat to either of them and became great friends.
Fiona quickly became a house cat but continued to accompany us on our daily walks, never opting to stay home until Franklin passed away five years later.

Fiona still continues to follow us on walks with our other dog, Gracey, but these two have never bonded like Franklin and Fiona.
A note: We initially had Fiona checked for a chip and posted flyers in case she was someone’s pet, to no avail.
