A 9-month-old cow named Stacy is settling into her new home at Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue after escaping from a slaughterhouse in Queens.

The 400-pound Hereford heifer was corralled with the help of NYC park rangers and NYPD Special Ops in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

“Looks like our Urban Park Rangers were in a sentimental Moo-d today,” tweeted NYC Parks.

The calf was transported to the sanctuary where she will live out the rest of her days among other cows and surrounded by loving people.

NYPD Special Ops posted the good news on Twitter and said, “Only in New York! This morning, NYPD ESU Truck 10 received a request from precinct personnel to assist with a found cow.”

The sweet girl is settling in nicely and is currently in quarantine. She is getting to know the humans who will care for her but can see and hear other cows.

Little Stacy (who escaped a slaughterhouse in Queens the other day) is doing well, getting used to us as she awaits test results that will hopefully give her the ok to go in with some other kids ❤️

Stacy isn’t the first Hereford kid to escape from a Queens slaughterhouse and find sanctuary at Skylands. Freddie escaped when he was being unloaded at the slaughterhouse but was caught and returned. Mike Stura, the founder of Skylands Animal Sanctuary, eventually convinced the manager to release Freddie to him.

Read more about Freddie’s rescue here.

The farm animals that now call the New Jersey sanctuary home were rescued from slaughterhouses, live markets, farms, extreme neglect, abuse, religious ceremonies, abandonment, and even found the wandering streets.

Side by side comparison..On the left we have the lovely and talented, Freddie ❤️On the right is the new cutie, Stacy…
