Ikram Korkmazer runs a butcher shop in Turkey. The 51-year-old man has 41 years of experience running his shop, and he’s seen all kinds of customers over the years. But, he seems to really enjoy the patronage of his four-legged customers best.
In fact, it all started with one little stray cat, Yeşim, who came in one day, begging for food. The poor cat was so hungry, it broke Ikram’s heart and he happily fed her for free.
The cat continued to come back, making herself rather comfortable at his establishment. In fact, she even started bringing her little furry family with her as well.
According to the Epoch Times, Ikram recalls, “When she gave birth to a kitten, she started bringing it to my workplace — they came together. She would stand on two legs, look at the meat on the counter, and ask for meat. She started to come to ask for food five or six times a day, standing on two legs.”
While Yeşim has since passed away, she’s had quite the impact on her buddy, Ikram. He even renamed his butcher shop after her, calling it Yeşim Meat Gallery.
But perhaps the sweetest outcome was Yeşim’s family legacy she left behind. It began with her original baby, who grew up and continued to frequent the butcher shop for food following Yeşim’s passing. And from there, it has grown to more cats.
In fact, cats aren’t the only animals coming around, as Ikram explained, according to the Epoch Times, “There would be eight to 10 dogs, and seven to eight cats a day. But Yeşim the cat would come in.”
Eventually, Ikram began to record his furry friends’ visits and started posting them on social media. Needless to say, these videos have gone viral, and he’s gained quite the following with more than 100K followers on Instagram and more than 540K followers on TikTok.
