When a truck driver, Odell, spotted a brown, quivering dog in a ditch, he knew he needed to help – but he couldn’t afford the time to stop.
Knowing he had to do something, the man called the Stray Rescue of St. Louis and told them about the dog he saw and asked if someone could drive out and check on it.
Thankfully, he made the right call by asking for help and the rescuers were able to find the dog just where Odell had said.
At first, they thought the sweet pup was just laying there, not wanting to move. But then they realized the sad truth: She was broken.
It seemed someone had hit her with a car and driven away, leaving her to suffer in the ditch. The rescuers credit her life to Odell who called them to help and named her Odella after him.
They immediately got her in for an examination but feared for the worst.

In an update shared on Facebook, the rescue revealed that Odella was suffering from a dislocated hip and a broken foot.
But, they noted that she was in “good spirits and overall just so grateful to be warm and safe.”
They added, “We are so grateful to the truck driver who somehow spotted her and saved her life. Her healing journey begins today, thank you to everyone who supports us!”
It’s unclear what Odella’s future holds, but it’ll be far better than her past. Just look how happy she looks in this video:
You can keep up with her story on the rescue’s Facebook page here or on their website.
