You know how humans used to worship cats on a whole other level than we still do right now? I mean, aren’t we all just suckers for cat videos, you know what I mean?

Our story for today is about an internet famous cat called Ella. And Ella specializes in watching TV. And she demands to see her cartoons and expects her human to turn on her TV whenever she pleases.

The instagram account ellawatchestv_ has over 64k followers and their TikTok account has over a whopping 634k followers. Although the account only has Ella’s name on it, it is shared by two other cats named Jovie and Emily but they don’t share the same obsession with the TV.

Ella is a senior cat that Emily and her husband adopted when the cat was already 10 years old. When they started looking to adopt a cat, Emily had trouble feeling any connections to the other animals that they see but then Emily said that she instantly felt a connection when she first saw Ella. “I feel like I love this cat already,” she said.

In her interview with The Dodo, she describes Ella as very sassy and demanding, and you could definitely see that in her videos. Then she added that, “however, that’s only because she’s a lady who knows what she wants and I can’t fault her for that!”

Ella’s fixation with the TV was first noticed when Emily noticed her cat suddenly went quiet and that Ella would just stare at the screen when the TV was on. She also recalled one particular evening when her cat “was screaming her head off” but immediately calmed down when she put on her favourite show, The Grinch. And it’s not just any Grinch, mind you. Ella has her preferences and in this particular example, she’s only interested in The Grinch with Benedict Cumberbatch. “We’ve tried the Jim Carrey version and we’ve tried the original cartoon, and she will not watch it,” Emily said.

In one of their more recent posts, Emily captioned the video with, “if anyone saw my tv watch history, they’d assume I have a child -no, just my cat” and with the amount of cartoon that Ella’s been consuming, I’d assume the same. It seems like Ella’s new fave cartoon is Pingu and Emily says that it is, indeed, Ella’s new obsession.

Cartoons are for everyone. Ella enjoys her shows and if you want more cats with a tv obsession, these adorable kittens can’t stop watching Tom and Jerry.
