Reese Witherspoon is a busy mom, actress, producer, designer, and a doting ‘dog mom.’ Sadly, the award-winning actor is also grieving after losing her beloved French bulldog, Pepper, to cancer.

“Our sweet Pepper passed away yesterday,” Witherspoon shared on Instagram, alongside a picture and heartfelt tribute to her beloved pup. “My goodness, she was such a loyal and devoted family member.”

“I am so heart broken, but I am also deeply grateful for all the love and comfort she brought our family,” Witherspoon wrote of the beloved, loyal dog, who joined the family in 2016. “Now she’s in dog heaven where all great pets go. Chasing tennis balls, running through open fields of wild flowers and being the Queen that she is.”

Witherspoon’s daughter, Ava, also posted a loving missive to the family Frenchie on Instagram. “Today is a tough day,” the 21-year-old wrote, according to Us Weekly. “Just when we thought she was getting better, things took a turn for the worst, and she passed peacefully, surrounded by those who love her.”

The college student described Pepper as “smart, sassy” dog who loved cuddling, ‘zoomies,’ and playing with her fellow dog siblings Hank and Lou. “Pepper was simply the best, and I repeatedly told her how perfect I thought she was,” Ava recalled, recalling how Pepper always made her feel special. “This girl got me through so many tough times, including some of my teenage years, and I am forever grateful for our bond!”
