We sometimes hear that birds of a feather flock together, but we realize that is not always the case. At times, we also need to make room for the fact that there are such things as “strange bedfellows” and they may show up at the strangest times.
Perhaps that is seen best in the case of a little puppy who fell in love with a tortoise. It was love at first sight, and we can’t help but love it when we see it.
It all started when a Sulcata Tortoise was found by the Humane Society of Los Angeles. Tilly G was in bad shape. He was diagnosed with a bad respiratory infection, had a crack in his shell, and was underweight. He needed a lot of TLC, just to get by.
Fortunately, there was someone who was more than willing to give him that TLC. These days, Tilly G is living in Santa Monica, California, in a virtual paradise. He has plenty of beauty around him, a little cedar house that he calls home, and a lot of cat and dog friends.
One of the recent additions to that home is a puppy named Skippy. If you have a home that is full of so many animals, you likely have the same questions and concerns, every time a new animal comes into it.
As far as Skippy was concerned, they were wondering if he would get along with the other animals. This included Tilly G, and nobody knew if Skippy would bark at the tortoise or if the tortoise would just hide in his shell.
They didn’t have to worry about it very long, because Skippy went right over to the tortoise and introduced himself. They sniffed each other and before long, they were constant companions.
The love that they had at first has only grown stronger as they continue to stick together. You might even say that Skippy is sticking to Tilly G like peanut butter and jelly. When he wakes up in the morning, he rushes outside so they can start spending the day together.
Admittedly, these two animals are the complete opposite of each other. Skippy is a little puppy, with plenty of energy but Tilly G is a tortoise, that takes life slowly.
Even though they are different from each other, they are rarely ever apart. When it is time to eat, Skippy you will want to be right with Tilly and they will even hang out in the cedar house together.
