Pote’s owners said that he was sick and wouldn’t eat, and that therefore he needed to be put to sleep.

Of course rescuers from Sidewalk Specials thought otherwise and gave him a second chance at life.

Despite his owners claiming he wouldn’t eat, he gobbled up every bit of food that rescuers gave him, as if he had been starved for so long.

Rescuers brought him to the veterinary hospital in Cape Town, where he would be examined and finally receive proper medical care.

He was covered in mange, which led him to losing a lot of his hair. He was treated for parasites with NexGard, and his hair slowly started growing back in.

He also began gaining weight and looked like a whole different dog.

Sidewalk Specials found him a loving forever home with a woman who has a soft spot for senior animals. Now Pote is living the life being spoiled by by his new mom.

He also has other adopted senior doggy siblings who he loves to play with, as well as a new kitty sibling.

Pote was once weak, fragile, and on the brink of death. Now, he is healthy, happy, and running like the wind in his new big backyard!

One man’s trash truly is another man’s treasure!
