The housing market is seeing some ludicrous prices right now, but this one takes the cake.

The “Aguas Zarcas Doghouse,” a humble structure once home to a German Shepherd named Roky in Costa Rica, is expected to sell at auction for upwards of $200,000!

That eye-watering price isn’t because of any traditional market factors, though — this simple house is one of a kind!

The tin and wooden structure, which measures only a couple of square feet, is part of the “Deep Impact: Martian, Lunar and Other Rare Meteorites,” collection curated by auction house Christie’s.

Roky’s doghouse was struck by a meteor during the April 2019 shower that lit up the skies over Aguas Zarcas, Costa Rica. The meteor itself, which is expected to fetch up to $60,000 in a separate auction, left a seven-inch hole in the roof of the house.

Roky, who was home at the time of the meteor shower, narrowly avoided being hit by the meteor as it punched through the tin roof. Such occurrences are rare, as most space debris disintegrates in the earth’s atmosphere or land in the ocean. Even meteorites that hit land are rarely recovered because they often impact remote places or bury themselves deep in the earth.

This rarity has given meteorites and other space debris a desirable quality, with memorabilia from impact sites fetching high prices at auction. For example, in 1992, a Chevy Malibu worth $400 ended up fetching $69,000 at auction after it was struck by a large meteorite in Peekskill, New York.
