Makeover videos are quite popular on the Internet. Often, they’ll show somebody who is taken in for a haircut and perhaps some makeup, and when they come out, they look like a new person.

It seems as if that isn’t only true for humans, but even animals can have such a makeover, as you are about to see what happened at the Hoke County Animal Shelter in North Carolina.

Kristi is a worker at the shelter who saw a little pit bull puppy that was out in the freezing cold. She knew that the dog had been abandoned so she brought her to the shelter and had her checked thoroughly by a veterinarian. Unfortunately, the little puppy was in bad shape.

In fact, the veterinarian said that it was one of the worst cases they had ever seen. Fortunately, they were up to the challenge and they managed to bring the little pit bull back to good health again. They even named her Paige.

They knew that the little dog needed a lot of attention and plenty of TLC. She was so worn out from the ordeal that she went through that she just wanted to sleep all the time.

When speaking with The Dodo in the video below, Kristi said: “She started taking some pain medication to feel better. She spent most of her time with us just sleeping by the heater.”

After she was able to rehabilitate for a few days at the shelter, she was taken in by a local rescue group, Perfectly Imperfect Pops Rescue. The founder of the rescue, Nicole Kincaid, said that they knew they needed to do something to make the little dog feel better.

One of the most difficult things that the dog was going through was a skin condition. They covered her skin with medicated cream and honey and wrapped her in a bandage.

It took a few weeks at the rescue because Paige had been somewhat traumatized and was withdrawn. She wanted to sleep a lot, but Nicole knew that she needed a lot more. She sat with the dog and allowed her to move at a pace that was comfortable for her.

She said: “One day I went in, I put my forehead to her forehead, and I hugged her tight and I said, ‘Girl, you got somebody to fight for you. Now it’s your time to fight.’”

It took some time but Paige began to come around. One day, she actually jumped up on the couch and wanted to snuggle. Nicole knew that this was a huge step in the right direction and now she was ready for her forever home.

Nicole said that it was about two weeks before she started looking and acting like a puppy. Once that took place, a forever home was just around the corner.

That is where Veronica Yoshida comes in. She heard about the little dog and Nicole knew that she was perfect for the job of being a parent to this little one. Nicole was able to give the dog a hug and say goodbye as she went off to her forever family.

It wasn’t long before Paige was fitting right in with her new family. She recovered from all of her skin problems and she even started getting some fur back. Before long, she was a completely different-looking dog.

Veronica said that the dog loves everyone and she is the ‘sweetest thing ever.’
