We used to have a nickname for our family dog: Mother Hen. That was because she was constantly being a very nurturing and loving mom figure to our other pets. The rabbits adored her. They definitely enjoyed constant kisses and cuddles.
Our cats…well, they loved her as well, but they also bullied her a lot for her giant cozy dog bed. Our dogs can be quite affectionate and caring for other animals, and a perfect example of this is Milo.
Milo is a sweet little stray who was picked up by a Good Samaritan close to the Mexico border with Arizona.
The kind stranger then brought her to the care of the Sunshine Dog Rescue. At the time of her rescue, Milo was discovered to be pregnant.
She wasn’t too far along into her pregnancy, so it was a heartbreaking shock when Milo ended up going into very early labor. Unfortunately, none of her puppies survived the birth.
Understandably, the poor mama dog was devastated. She couldn’t understand what had happened to her puppies and was constantly looking for them. It was so sad to watch, that the rescue reached out to the local community to see if there were any orphaned puppies who needed a foster mom. There were no puppies in the area, but there was a litter of three orphaned kittens.
That is when Milo was introduced to the kittens, and she took to them straight away! The loving pooch was thrilled to have some babies to care for, and she did a fantastic job with them.
She particularly grew to be very fond of one little kitten named Gumball. All three of the kittens, as well as Milo, went on to find their forever homes. But the most adorable part of this happy ending is that Milo and Gumball got adopted by two members from the same family.
Milo was adopted by a man named David, and David’s sister took home Gumball. We can only hope these two will get to spend some wholesome family holidays together in the future!
