People across the country honored the late Betty White by donating to their local shelters in her name on her 100th birthday.

Maui Humane Society participated in the #BettyWhiteChallenge and as a bonus one of their longtime cat residents found a loving home.

The senior gray tabby cat named Rose Nylund, after Betty White’s Golden Girls character, spent over 100 days in the shelter waiting for someone to choose her.

A video of the friendly cat was shared on YouTube with the caption, “While my roommates are very nice, what I miss most is having a family to love on. If you were to help me start over, I’ll be your ‘Golden Girl’ for the rest of my years!”

A local news station, Hawaii News Now, featured Rose and it led to a couple from Oahu flying to Maui to meet the lovable cat.

The couple instantly fell in love with Rose and adopted her over the weekend. She is now in Oahu living her best life.

On Monday, which would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday, the shelter shared the great news on Facebook. They wrote, “Our very last ‘Golden Girl”, Rose Nylund also has something to celebrate today!”

Her patience paid off and she has finally found the purr-fect home. The shelter thanked everyone for sharing Rose’s story and said, “#ThankYouForBeingAFriend ,Betty White, and for still helping shelter animals from the other side of the rainbow bridge.”

Rose found her happily ever after but there are several other pets at the shelter with famous names, like a Chihuahua mix named Judge Judy and a large mixed breed known as Dale Earnhardt, who would love to find a loving home.
