I’ve never understood how someone can neglect an animal. If you cannot care for the animal, then why did you get it in the first place? It’s so selfish and I will never understand people who treat pets like commodities rather than living beings.

We’ve seen a lot of cases of neglect, but perhaps one of the worst happened to be a little small poodle named Ginger Bread.

Dr. Karri from the Vet Ranch was the one who cared for the small poodle who was suffering from a horrible case of neglect.

The vet had been contacted by animal control who asked if she could take on the miniature poodle who weighed a meager five pounds.

Besides being so thin and underweight, the poor dog was absolutely filthy! She also smelled quite bad and was infested by fleas. She was so flea-riddled that the poor thing was actually anemic as a result! But the most shocking thing was she was missing a jawbone!

Despite all the suffering the little dog had seen, she was still incredibly sweet and she immediately curled up in Dr. Karri’s arms when she saw her. That is when the vet and her medical team knew that they had to do everything in their power to help little Ginger Bread pull through.

After doing an x-ray, it was confirmed that Ginger Bread had no bone left in her jaw and because of a long-term, untreated periodontal disease, she had lost all her teeth in the top of her mouth. Still, despite her dental issues, Ginger Bread can still eat – and she has proven herself to have quite the appetite, too!

With tons of loving care, Ginger Bread has been making strides to getting back to full health, and even found people to care for her!
