On the evening of December 26, the Detroit Police Department received a report of a “vicious dog” and went to investigate.
But what they found was a malnourished pit bull who had recently given birth.
Detroit Police officers, H. Kourani and G. Rogers, spotted the dog outside an abandoned home and slowly approached her.

They managed to earn her trust by feeding her tasty treats, which she quickly devoured. Once they established that they were there to help they entered the boarded-up home to look for the puppies.
“As soon as we turned that first corner into the living room, we saw a tiny brown puppy laying on top of a beat-up mattress,” Kourani told Fox News Digital.
The other puppy was inside the mattress with its head trapped in one of the springs. Rogers used all her strength to free the little guy.

Momma and her pups were brought to Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue where they are being cared for until they are ready to find forever homes. The dogs appear to be in good health and will sleep inside on a cozy blanket for the first time in their lives.
With overnight temperatures dropping below freezing, a veterinarian told the officers the puppies probably wouldn’t have survived the night if they hadn’t been rescued.

The cops are being praised for their great work.
One supporter wrote, “Thank you for going above and beyond your call of duty!!! The puppies do look rather healthy fortunately, the one stuck in the coil may not have made it! I’m sure mama is happy to be on a nice warm blanket and getting lots of food to feed them little ones ❤️❤️❤️.”
Officer Kourani said, “Whether it’s an animal life or human life, we’re always going to do our best to try to protect and preserve it as much as possible.”
