Vets Adopt Pets’ thanks veterans for their service all by assisting with adopting fees at their local county animal shelter when they adopt a new pet. A dog or cat gives a special kind of love for healing, health and happiness. In moving on from war, it is in turn as a community to honor and respect the selfless act with support to move on from war.

This program provides:

– Financial assistance for a pet adoption by waiving the fee or a portion of the fee

People must be signed up with Vets Adopt Pets before adopting and please allow up to 2 weeks for them to respond back. They provide 1 pet per Veteran/ActiveDuty.

Once people are signed up with VetsAdopt Pets, the organization will attempt to work with the local county shelter to handle the financials of the adoption fee and to see if veterans will let them take the pet home while they take care of their fee. In some cases, veterans will need to pay the adoption fee then send the paid receipt and they will reimburse the fees. Please note in certain parts of the country there are no county pet shelters and the subcontracting rescue fees are too high to cover. They can cover fees up to $150. They cannot accept receipts for reimbursement or make payment to shelters unless they previously signed up with Vets Adopt Pets.
