A couple is praising their dog for saving the life of their 9-month-old daughter.

Kelly Dowling of Connecticut shared on Twitter that her 8-year-old Boston terrier, Henry, was annoying her one night by breaking into her daughter’s nursey.

Her 9-month-old daughter had a cold and was sleeping, but Henry kept “pushing open the baby’s door with his battering ram head so he can sniff at her.”

Her parents were, admittedly, getting quite annoyed at Henry for continuing to disturb the sleeping baby. In an interview with Good Morning America, Kelly said, “every time I shooed him away, he would go back in every time my back was turned.”

However, their annoyance quickly turned to gratitude when they realized why Henry kept checking on the baby: She was struggling to breathe!

Kelly told Good Morning America that because of Henry waking the baby, they noticed that she was turning blue and going “rigid,” so they rushed her to the hospital. They were able to stay the night in the hospital and get her stable and breathing again, and now she’s doing just fine.

Kelly wrote on Twitter, “I don’t know what would have happened if he hadn’t woken her. We don’t deserve dogs.”

Needless to say, Henry is being treated as a hero back at the Dowling home. They shared with Good Morning America that he has a steak in his future, and he’s even gotten to sleep in the bed with his owners.

Kelly said he’s being treated like “the king of the castle,” but she added that that’s not much different than most days:

After Henry’s story began to circulate on Twitter, it eventually made its way to other social media platforms and went viral.

Kelly shared on Instagram that Henry is “The best boy in the world,” and thousands of people agree.

In the comments of the post, Kelly also added that the baby is doing much better now – and it’s all thanks to Henry.
