Why the “Wonder Dog”? Well, he just makes you wonder. We are a pets on the furniture type of family. Needless to say, just like Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory, Skeeter has his “spot” and if something is in his way, he has no issue with verbally letting us know that he has an issue and then moving the object (usually a pillow or throw blanket) out of the way so that he can lay in his spot.

One sunny afternoon, I was outside with Skeeter, and I noticed a scrap of food wrapper trash next to the fence. I bent down to pick it up and, to my surprise the scrap was actually still attached to the whole unopened bag of cookies. I looked further down the fence, noticed more pieces of scrap, and found them also attached to full bags! You could see the panic in Skeeter’s eyes as he saw me discovering his stash.

For the next half hour, I watched him check out his hiding areas and rescued the hidden treats, both for humans and pets. We finally caught him in action, nudging a chair next to the table just enough to climb up, reach for something and then run out the pet door with it. Needless to say, treats are now kept in much higher locations. However, Skeeter, the ever resourceful one still manages on occasion to find a new food treasure to bury.

Skeeter is truly a best friend. He seems to know when you need a cuddle or how much better you would feel if you just scratch his ear for a bit. He hates when Dad yells at the Eagles football team on TV. He tolerates Hallmark Christmas movies year round with Mom.

Skeeter makes sure we know anytime the mailman, delivery person, neighbor or leaf goes past our house. He lets us know when it’s bed time and is always happy to test the bacon that I have made for breakfast to be sure that it is the correct crispiness.
