When Nina Love got a call about a dog that had been living in the woods nearby, she knew exactly what to do.
The Philadelphia-based entrepreneur, who founded the animal rescue group The Black Thornberry, is known locally for helping strays and reuniting owners with their lost pets.
Trekking out into the forest, she set up a camera to find the pup’s hideaway. Then, with the help of a partner, she set a trap so that she could rescue the lost dog.
It worked! When she brought the dog to her local veterinarian, they were, fortunately, able to find out who her owner was.
Apparently, the pup — named Hannah — had been living on her own for nearly two months, after getting separated from her new owner at the park.
She’d only been adopted for two days and when she got lost at the park, she had no way of knowing how to get home! Thanks to Love’s dedication, Hannah was reunited with her family.
“As a child growing up,” Love writes on her site, “It was tough being accepted and fitting in but somehow animals always seemed to make life a little easier.”
When she received her first pet, a rabbit, as a gift from her mom, Love knew that she would be caring for animals for the rest of her life. “As an adult now seeing the many homeless animals roaming the streets, I wanted to go out and save them like they saved me when I needed them the most. In order to see a change, we must be their voice,” she added.
