Most people who celebrate Christmas have begun gathering presents for the big day. Part of getting presents together includes wrapping them, which can turn into quite an ordeal for some people.
It takes time to cut the wrapping to the right size for each gift and top it off with tape and a nice bow or ribbon.
If you have cats or small children around trying to be helpers, the task becomes that much more challenging. Cats, in particular, make wrapping presents a challenge. They like to paw at the paper and pounce on the ribbons.
Add in a cat who struggles with balance, and things get even more interesting. Enter, Bert.
Bert lives in Quincy, Illinois with his owner and he was diagnosed with a disability called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which makes it hard for him to balance or walk straight.
In a hilarious video, you can see Bert trying to help his owner wrap presents. In typical cat fashion, he does his best to put himself in the gift boxes and attempts to pounce on the scissors as they cut the wrapping paper. He flops over a few times, losing his balance because of his condition.
The wobbly feline seems to have a good attitude about falling over and he hops back up and continues trying to be a helper. At the end of the video, he even gets wrapped up like a present himself!
Bert’s owner shared with ViralHog:
“Bert has a disability called Cerebellar Hypoplasia that causes him to have balance and coordination issues. Because of his disability, he topples over frequently and has an odd gait. He has a very laid-back disposition and loves to be included in everything we do. In this video, he is helping my daughter wrap Christmas presents. At the end, he gets wrapped up himself like a Christmas present.”
The video is incredibly sweet and goes to show that animals with disabilities can live full and happy lives, too.
