“Who in the world SETS A DOG ON FIRE?! I’m really struggling to find the words for this horrendous act of evil,” posted Dog Days Rescue, the rescue caring for the sweet boy. “Words can’t express how disgusted, angry and heartbroken I am right now. We, as a society, HAVE to be better. We have to do better.”

Police are still searching for the cruel person or persons responsible. They are asking the community for help and a $10,000 reward is being offered.

“Will is feeling a little better today after his partial debridement yesterday. As seems to be his normal he was tail wags and kisses again! He continues to receive as much love and attention as he can handle. Right now, we’re just praying that he doesn’t have any complications and continues to move forward,” said the rescue in an update.

UPDATE 12-11-21Our visit with Will was a good one today. He was in great spirits, he stood and moved around some today….

Will has good and bad days, which is to be expected with the amount of damage done from the fire. His body is slowly starting to heal but he is expected to be in the hospital for at least another month. The low end estimate for his treatment is around $5,000, a large sum for the small rescue. They are asking for donations to help cover his medical care.

“I can’t imagine going through such trauma and being so sweet the next day. Another testament to how amazing dogs are,” commented the rescue.

Old scars found on his body prove Will was previously abused, but he isn’t letting his painful past change his sweet demeanor. He continues to thank his care team with kisses and just wants to cuddle.

Many people have reached out to adopt Will, but the rescue is not taking applications at this time. They are focusing on his recovery and will post when he is ready to find his forever home.

Will deserves justice. The rescue wrote, “Someone knows something. Someone has either seen or heard something. Information is critical in helping to hold this person(s) accountable!”

Police are working with Dekalb County Animal Services and ask anyone with information to call Det. Watson at 404-286-7990 or Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS.
