On the day her 13-year-old dog was scheduled to be put down, owner Julianna Lopez was determined to give her beloved pet, Boosie, a delicious last meal.
The Topeka, Kansas, woman took the ailing Boston Terrier to a local steakhouse for takeout, where she ordered a 9-oz filet, sweet potato and left a heartbreaking message: “This is my dog’s last meal. Please make with love,” Lopez wrote on the order, according to The Topeka Capital-Journal.
Not only did restaurant staff respond to Lopez’s note, they even included whipped cream to make Boosie’s last meal truly special. “Made with lots of love!” staff wrote on Lopez’s receipt. “So sorry for your loss. We put a sweet treat in there for them.”
This made a difficult day much easier for Lopez, who was distraught about saying goodbye to her “first baby,” whom she’d gotten as a sophomore in high school. Boosie had helped her cope with the stress of being the new girl at school, and been at her side ever since.

According to Lopez, the elderly dog was truly delighted by her last meal and even shared some of her doggie desserts with her dog family, which included 3 dogs and her own mother, Lucy.
“This was the most anyone has seen her eat for six months,” Lopez said, “and for that moment made us forget she was sick.”
Boosie’s owner also made sure to share her appreciation for the restaurant staff’s kindness on a local Facebook page, The Topeka Experience.
“Thank you for the extra love provided in this perfect meal for my sweet girl,” Lopez wrote, according to the paper. “Having to say goodbye to her was hard, but I can find comfort in knowing I provided her a last meal made with love and was by her side til the end. RIP Boosie.”
