Russell Jones was having a rough day. The English man was already walking around on crutches after breaking his leg. Now his beloved rescue dog Billy had started limping as well.
Russell didn’t know how Billy got injured, but clearly, something was wrong. Now whenever the pair went for a walk, the lurcher (aka greyhound/terrier mix) affected a dramatic limp down the street.
So, Russell gathered his crutches and took Billy to the vet to diagnose the problem. The vet dutifully ran x-rays and other tests, which revealed a rather surprising diagnosis.
According to Russell, who posted about the incident on Facebook, Billy the dog didn’t have a physical injury at all. According to the vet, the loyal pup was merely expressing his “sympathy.”
This had caused Billy to start walking with a limp–just like his injured owner. Check out this adorable video of the pair hobbling down the street.
Cost me £300 in vet fees and X-rays, nothing wrong just sympathy. Love him ❤️

“Cost me £300 in vet fees and X-rays,” Russell wrote in a Facebook group detailing the dog’s surprise diagnosis. “Nothing wrong just sympathy.”
Of course, Russell wasn’t the only one charmed by his sympathetic pup’s actions, which quickly went viral. “Pets are so loyal to their human parents,” one person gushed. “Now that is love,” another person agreed. “Animals are the best!”
