Nuka the black German Shepherd may be the only dog in the house, but he’s never alone. The friendly dog is always surrounded by the company of his various friends, from rats and rabbits to lizards and ferrets.
The friendly pup lives with his owner, 36-year-old medical researcher Nicole Yates, in their home in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, along with several other non-canine pets.
Speaking with Caters Clips, Yates said, “Nuka is the gentlest dog in the world and absolutely loves getting his picture taken.”
Knowing that Nuka loves pictures and animals, Nicole started an Instagram to share photos of him with his “furred, feathered and scaly friends.”
In the photos, you can see Nuka posing with the family’s rabbits, rats, cat, guinea pigs, birds, ferrets, and even a bearded dragon! Check out some of the photos below:
The dog is so patient and loving towards his friends, he holds absolutely still while they climb on his head and hop on his body.
Recently, the family even had some rat babies that Nuka lovingly cared for. He gently laid by the tiny rats as they nuzzled under his snout to keep warm. They shared an Instagram post of the sweet moment, saying, “Guess who’s on babysitting duties again!!”
The babies have since moved on to live with their forever families, but Nuka will probably remember their time together forever.
It’s not just in the home that Nuka makes friends with all of the animals, either. He has a natural gift of befriending other species everywhere he goes, like the time he made friends with a frog while taking a walk:
Some dogs would try to eat or attack other animals, or maybe just curiously sniff or play with them. Nuka just wants to be friends with everyone, though. He’s truly a one-of-a-kind dog!
