Phil had been living in neglect for years, but in the way that most people think of neglect. You see, Phil’s owners had been feeding him to the point of obesity and not giving him enough exercise.

As a result, Phil became morbidly obese and it was negatively affecting his health in a big way.

Phil was so large, weighing in at around 150lbs, that he couldn’t walk upstairs, he struggled to walk on hardwood without slipping, and his neck couldn’t fit a collar.

Thankfully in 2019, Phil was rescued by a kind family in North Carolina who was dedicated to getting him his health back. They knew it would be a long journey, but they were determined to see Phil live a higher quality life.

With an exercise plan in place and a diet prescribed by a veterinarian, Phil and his family began his weight loss journey. Slowly, he started to make progress and achieve small milestones.

At first, he accomplished little things, like jumping up on the couch by himself and fitting into a dog collar.

Then, he began to meet larger milestones, like walking up and downstairs, finishing 4+ mile-long walks, and jumping up on the bed!

To date, Phil has lost half of his body weight! In early 2019, he started weighing in at 148lbs, and today (late 2021), he weighs around 74 pounds – a 74-pound weight loss!
