Meet Frodo.
He’s a 20-year-old cat who loves to nap in the sun. However, getting to his favorite spot by the pool meant hobbling down a flight of stairs every day.
But life just got a whole lot easier for the aging feline.
Liam Thompson, loving cat dad and inventor, noticed his senior pal struggling and decided to do something about it.
He spent four days constructing an elevator that would allow Frodo to go up and down the stairs with no effort.
The video, which has been viewed by over 900K people, showed how Thompson made the track and cart for the elevator and Frodo’s “maiden voyage”.
The crafty dad used plywood, a sliding door rail, and electric hoist to create the custom elevator and even joked about his “superior craftsmanship”.
To ensure the elevator was safe for his old friend, Thompson used a stuffed toy to test out his creation.
After making some safety tweaks and sanding and painting the elevator, it was finally ready for Frodo to use.
Thompson asked his beloved feline, “Are you ready to go downstairs without moving a muscle? I hope so because it took me four days.”
Frodo, referred to as “his lordship”, seemed very relaxed in the elevator as it made its way to the bottom of the stairs.
Ecstatic by the success of his device, Thompson laughed with joy as Frodo exited the elevator and made his way over to the pool.
“This is the greatest day of my life,” he exclaimed.
His devotion to his cat and labradoodle Max has earned the young man from New Zealand 1.87 million subscribers on YouTube.
Many viewers were impressed by the creation and one commented, “He builds inventions for his pets that are way safer than the ones he makes for himself. Respect.”
Another said, “I love how excited Liam is and how unbothered Frodo is. Truly an iconic duo.”
