Gender reveals have become a new norm in the US, and parents use “fun” or creative ways to share the news of their new baby’s gender.
For Marie del Rosaria and Jasa Grant, they wanted to do their gender reveal involving their first child – their beloved dog, Doobie!
They planned to fill a giant, black balloon with blue or pink confetti and have Doobie jump up and pop it to reveal the color (and thus, the gender). However, things didn’t exactly go as planned.
In a video captured of the attempted reveal, you can see the happy couple standing on a deck holding the black balloon.

Doobie is standing below the balloon, and they look at him expectantly. It doesn’t take long before Doobie begins jumping up at the balloon, clearly trying to pop it exactly as planned.
However, instead of popping it, he accidentally sends it flying!
The parents watch in shock as the balloon drifts away into the distance. Oops!
While the moment was temporarily spoiled, the disappointment and disbelief didn’t last long.
The (slightly deflated) balloon was found in a nearby park and brought back to the parents for attempt #2.
This time, it worked!
