It is always so baffling how someone could be so cruel to an animal – especially one that is old, blind, and completely helpless.
But sadly, there are some pretty callous people who would not think twice about shooting such a defenseless creature.
Love Furry Friends Rescue was faced with that awful reality on one of their rescue missions. They’d been called in to assist a stray dog who had been living near some garages in a Ukrainian town.
The little pooch was old and blind, and when the rescuers showed up, they were told the most awful story by a guard who watched over the garages.
Apparently, the pup, who they later named Chapa, had been shot at. Luckily, the dog appeared to be unharmed. However, she was understandably skittish about being approached by the rescuers. They needed help catching her, and so they got assistance from Sergei, a man who’d been feeding Chapa.

They finally managed to catch her and took her to the vet for examination. There, they were told she was about 10 years old. She had both cataracts and bad teeth.
After she was given an X-ray, it was revealed that she actually did get hit by a shot. Fortunately, the pellet was small enough that there would be no lasting damage.
Perhaps the most heart-warming part of the story was that after a much-needed bath and grooming, Chapa began to come out of her shell.
She received plenty of love and care from the rescuers, and in time, she proved herself to be quite an affectionate little dog.
