It’s always a treat when we see a hummingbird stop by for a visit. Some people even put out hummingbird feeders so they can enjoy them more often.

In Houston, Texas, a hummingbird came for a visit, but it was injured, so a human did the right thing.

Sammy saw the injured bird on the ground and he decided to bring her home. In fact, he thought that the bird was so injured that it wouldn’t make it home but after bringing her into the car, it seems as if she got comfortable and started sleeping immediately.

After the bird was brought home, she was given some sugar water to eat. It seemed as if it was the right thing to do because the hummingbird ate all of the sugar water at one time.

It took a little while, but the bird started to benefit from the special care that Sammy was showing. At that point, the bird became more than a project, she became a pet. She even got a name, Flit, and was quite comfortable sitting on Sammy’s finger.

Eventually, it seemed as if Flit was ready to fly again. It took a little coaxing, but eventually, she was able to take flight.

It was a moment that Sammy and his daughter enjoyed seeing, and they documented it in a video that the world is now enjoying.

Perhaps Sammy summed things up nicely when he said: “I was able to take a small, little delicate creature and nurse them back to health and get them strong enough so they can go back out into the world.”
