Most people enjoy a certain type of music or have a favorite song. You may even have a few playlists of songs to listen to for certain occasions, like a playlist for working out or for road trips. But humans aren’t the only ones who enjoy music, animals appreciate it as well.

In fact, music’s positive effects on animals are well-documented. One 2012 study published in The Journal of Veterinary Behavior indicated that kenneled dogs who listened to classical music experienced decreased stress levels.

Pet owners often go above and beyond for their furry companions, but few stop to think about what music their pets might enjoy. As it turns out, pets may enjoy a variety of different music, depending on their mood and environment. At bedtime, they may relax with some classical tunes, while playing something more upbeat could help excite them during an afternoon walk.
